I'm going to be taking my boys on vacation later this year and was looking for houses to rent. Found one on Ayers Dr in Alexandria and was wondering if this area is safe and if its a good area to stay, being a single mom you have to check this kind of stuff out. Thanks all!

If it's a short-term stay (meaning less than a month), you should be fine (safety-wise, anyway).
Now if this is long-term i wouldnt do it. Not that this area is Compton but it does have crime that is a little higher than the rest of Northern VA (but more like petty crimes.) Plus, I work in this area and I am currently seeking employment because the attitudes of some of the people are depressing and irritating. Plus a lot of people there can't speak english.
