K, now he says 'check into Lexington......'

How is Lexington area for extreme winter weather? Blistering wind? Traffic to and from Roanoke? Work would be in Roanoke.

My significant other says just for fun, tell them that you are from Orange County, CA when you are asking about winter weather conditions. He is Rhode Island boy, but I am Cali-girl, thru and thru. In Cali you never get to wear a warm coat, it sits in closet for years.

Thank you!

Patricia

Why live so far from Roanoke? I would understand if it were an area like Northern, VA where the housing prices go way down as you go further out, but commuting that far to Roanoke doesn't make sense to me.

That's my input :P good luck, I think it might be hard the first winter or two, but you'll get used to it. And you'll be at home in the summer.

What's your target price range for a house, or a monthly rent if you'll be renting? Do you have particular lifestyles in mind? In other words, would you be living in town w/ 0.5 acres or out of town, with some acreage and perhaps horses? I could make recommendations closer to Roanoke then Lexington once I get a feel for what you're looking for.

Lexington is far from Roanoke, but if you like quaint, small, southern towns with character you can't go wrong. Beautiful country.

Roanoke's an hour each way. That's 10 hours of driving for a five day work week, move closer to Roanoke if that's where you'll be working. More people, more things to do, more everything.

Hey Patricia. I'm from South OC. My wife and I spent last Thanksgiving in Lexington for a family reunion. Now we are selling our home in Dana Point and moving to VA. It is gorgeous there. And I'm a Cali native. (Dad's side of the family is from Lexington) We are looking at Lexington, Buena Vista, and futher South down in Independence and Fries (better home prices).
