My family would love to move to virginia. my brother is in the navy and lives in virginia beach so we would love to live somewhat close to him. We have 4 small children and they would go to public school. we could afford no more than $450000 for a house. Is this area something to consider or would we be better off somewhere else?

Is there a particular area you are considering? Do you have job opportunities in this area? We live in the Tabb area of Yorktown so maybe 45 minutes from VA Beach and the schools are excellent! I know for a fact you can get a house in your price range because I have a 5 bedroom (plus room over the garage which could be a 6th bedroom) listed for just under the amount you listed. There is much for sale now. This is a great area but I am not sure what you are looking for other then being close to your brother. If you have any questions, please let me know.

You can come to Virginia Beach get a very nice home and live in an excellent school district. Be about 10 to 15 minutes from the beach.

You should come and check it out!! This weekend is the annual Strawberry Festival in Pungo. I am going to eat so many strawberries!!

Virginia Beach and Chesapeake are the best options. Great schools and you should have no problem finding a safe place for 450k. Same can't be said for Norfolk or Portsmouth. Tabb is a great area but you do not want to have a commute that includes crossing the HR tunnel and that's what Tabb will entail.
