I received a speed ticket on 12/29/13 on Bradley Blvd. Since then I've seen a news article about numerous others who received tickets around this time at this location and swear they were not doing 12 miles over the speed limit. I admit to speeding, but I was definitely not going 12 mph over the limit. I believe the camera is incorrectly calibrated and inaccurate, but how do I go about presenting my case in traffic court, and is it even worth it to try? The police captain was out there and apparently certified that it is correct, but I still don't believe it.

Also, they subtly threaten in the citation that if I go to court I may be liable for court costs. How much are these, typically?

What's my move here?

It's no points just pay it.

Sure it may be a racket, but is it really worth your time to fight it, if there are no points at issue.

I slow close to the limit -- to like either the limit or within FIVE miles of the limit, just so what happened to you DOESN't happen.
It's not worth the aggravation.

Also I believe the sites of cameras can be found online.
Dig and you'll find out.

Updated: Thursday, January 23 2014, 10:25 PM EST A secret audit of the city’s speed camera program commissioned last year revealed the system was more error prone than city officials were willing to admit. In February 2013 city officials used $268,000 of taxpayer funds to pay a consulting firm called URS. The firm was tasked with studying the performance of the city’s former camera enforcement vendor, Xerox. FOX45 obtained a copy of the audit of 2012 data, conducted in 2013, that tested dozen of cameras across the city. It found 10% of the tickets issued were erroneous, with some locations notching an error rate of over 50%. The rate of bogus citations jibes

It's well known that cameras are seldom maintained or calibrated. If it's worth it to you, fight it. If there's a 50% error rate, then there may be a 50/50 chance you'll beat the ticket.

You can protest that, if you have the time....
