I'm looking for an apartment. I don't want to pay anything over $1200 a month. I will have to commute to downtown DC everyday. I'm hoping some of you "experts" can help me.

I'm particularly interested in the places below, but open to other places

Silver Spring
Arlington
Alexandria
Largo

Id like to know the names of the apartments that you think are best in the area for my budget.

Thanks

For apartments in the largo area I always recommend ivy club or Cameron pointe. Neither is in largo though, they are in landover but they are both a 2 minute drive from largo, close to the metro and in hated communities. Not sure what you are looking for as far as how you would commute but those are two affordable but safe places.

Is it just a 1 bedroom you're looking for?

Can you think of any reasonable places in/near DT Silver Spring. I was there yesterday for first time and was very impressed. Crime is not that big a issue for me Im a single man with no children, I should be able to take care of myself as far as petty crime is concerned. As long as there arent shootings Im fine.

I'm not familiar with all the apartments there. I used to stay in the blairs. They are nice but they are dated and bit pricey. General rule of thumb is though is to stay closer to downtown. It is safer than the outer parts but that doesn't mean it doesn't have crime.

Silver Spring Towers may have available studios under $1200. This is an older building, but I have heard some good reviews on the maintenance. Summit Hills and the Blairs may also be within your budget. Both are also older buildings but I think still well maintained.
