Hi Guys,

I'll be arriving in town for a new job in a about a week or so, and will be living in Silver Spring, but about 2 miles from the Metro. Because of that, I'm wondering if anyone can share any information on parking at the metro? My employer will reimburse me for taking public transportation...which I'm considering if parking isn't a complete disaster around the Metro stop (plus I can claim my time on the metro is 'work' if do a little related reading) and the fees aren't ridiculous. Is it easy/safe to park around that stop?

Also, do they offer overnight parking? I have several friends all over DC, in places such as Arlington, Rockville and Alexandria...and it'd be easier to commute to them via Metro (i.e. so I don't have to drive home at 2am on a Saturday). Are there overnight parking options near the metro??

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me!

Silver Spring has many parking garages within walking distance (you can't use your SmartTrip card to pay like at some of the other Metro parking facilities, but the rates are reasonable). When I lived in downtown SS I parked at the Second Ave./Cameron St. garage & paid approx. $7.00 for 8 hours.

It's a 1 block walk to Metro & you pay upon entrance at the kiosk depending on how long you expect to park, open 24/7. The Sarbanes transit facility is still being built at SS Metro, but the website says it'll only have 54 Kiss & Ride spots.
