FIOS. NEVER EVER had my internet go out. Speeds, for me at least, were always higher than advertised. I was all in Verizon (cell, FIOS, phone, internet). Had to get rid of cell, FIOS TV, and phone because it got too expensive. But I kept the internet because it's just that good.

I like FiOS a lot more than Comcast. Not perfect mind you.

It seems like FIOS is overwhelmingly preferred.

I can't get FIOS in the complex I live but I do have Verizon DSL and landline. The DSL has gone down a few times but it's been two years total that I've had the service, so it's infinitely better than the last time I had Comcast internet. Usually it's only down for a few minutes or maybe an hour at worst.

My problem with Verizon is their customer service. If your service is working and fine, you're golden. If there's a problem... good. luck. I've had call center people flat-out lie to me just to get me off the phone so they can keep their call volume up. I knew someone was actually properly helping me when it took 45 minutes to complete all the things that needed done (billing issue in which I was getting badly overcharged). Kinda funny, the lady apologized for having me on hold so much and I said, "hey, it's cool, as long as things get fixed I don't care." Way better than being told everything will be fine in the next bill and of course the next bill is just as ridiculous.

Both have incredibly fast speeds available. FiOS technically has a faster offering of 150Mbps down. But at over $200 a month.. its probably not an option for most home users. Quality wise - I personally choose FiOS over Comcast - I've had less outages over the years. They seem to also be easier to get deals than Comcast (just my own experience of course).

Support wise - they both suck. But that's just life.

FIOS has been FAR superior to my former Comcast service, particularly on the Internet side. Much more reliable and faster too.
