My fiance and I will be moving to the DC area in early May and have just started looking for apartments in the Silver Spring/Wheaton area. We're having a hard time finding places that accept pets, let alone a dog (we have 1 boxer, 2 cats). Does anyone have any recommendations on apartments that accept pets in these areas, or suggestions of other areas close by that we may have more luck? We'd really like to stay under $1700 a month, parking and pet rent included, 1 bedroom is fine...

Thanks!

I live in Woodleaf apartments in White Oak - they are very pet friendly although you do have to pay an extra fee for pets. (I know they will take 2 pets but I have neighbors with three.) The surrounding area is a little iffy but I'm happy with the apartments themselves - they're well maintained and I feel safe within the complex. However, even though the mailing address is Silver Spring, they're not anywhere near a Metro station, if that's important to you. That's one reason for the lower prices and the pet-friendly policies.

Falkland Chase Apartments in downtown Silver Spring allow larger breed dogs in apartment units. The apartment complex is a stone's throw from the Silver Spring Metro station and major WMATA bus lines.
