It seems Amazon may end up relocating to Crystal City, I believe PG county in general and Oxon Hill/National Harbor area in particulate need to prepare to get some of the benefit, any Idea?
I think neighborhoods near transit stations would win first. Specifically the blue/yellow line if Crystal City is chosen. Places without transit will get the leftovers.

However, I do think that if Amazon chooses Crystal City, it may hasten talks about transit to National Harbor/Oxon Hill.

In general they need to clean up that downtown Oxon Hill area and make it more appealing to millennials/young professionals. Top Golf is a good move, making it walkable, adding upscale rentals, adding more amenities targeting that group, and improving transportation options would do it. I also saw that they are adding a Target there by 2020. They should push to upgrade the other stores in that shopping center. There were plans to convert that area into more mixed use (e.g. retail, office, residential). They really need to make that happen. Obviously not something they could do in 5 years but 10 definitely.

I agree. The priority will be those lines connecting to Crystal City. If PGC wants to leverage the potential they should definitely focus on stops along the Blue/Yellow like Westphalia, Largo, etc. They should also develop a transportation plan for NH/OH/FW. Best bet would be for them to tie into the Yellow line expansion VA has for Rt 1. Maybe funding a line to Eisenhower or Huntington. Given that PG is the cheapest county in the metro they should capitalize on that as prices are sure to explode in areas closest to their HQ site.

Adding express bus between NH and Crystal City or Extending NH1/NH2 to Crystal City would be a good start.

Those are great suggestions. That area will benefit from Amazon HQ2 for commuters, its near enough you can get across the river easily and live in an area that still offers alot for the money as opposed to buying in DC or VA.

It seems they are building more entertainment venues in that area, and that does seem like a good idea. With MGM, National Harbor, and Top Golf it would be great if they put in that area more of those types of venues. There is a demand for that in this area.

Fort Washington and Oxon Hill currently are too residential, not many shops around or commercial buildings. All the buildings from the Home Depot on Oxon Hill to Top Golf need to be upgraded.

I agree that would be a good short term solution.

I agree that making "downtown" Oxon Hill more entertainment focused would be a good move. I recall there being a presentation on pg planning's website that showed what that would look like but they took that down. I guess that wasn't supposed to be for public consumption. It showed Rivertowne as a walkable grid of retail, residential and offices. Basically a town center. It would also be great if they put a town center concept where Livingston Square is. They have about 50 acres of undeveloped commercial land and 20 acres of undeveloped residential land that could be the start of a main square for Fort Washington. I guess we will have to see how things evolve but creating a solid entertainment/shopping zone external to the National Harbor would make the area more marketable to young professionals.

Hmmmm. Looks like Virginia is going to go at it alone with the education pipeline for Amazon - a big middle finger to the existing top colleges and universities in the DC area.

Yeah it will help but I doubt that Amazon will restrict its talent pool to VTECH. No surprise that they are promoting their own schools. As long as the other schools in the area are on their game they will be just as competitive if not more so. What the other area schools need to do is create strengths in their niche disciplines like Cyber Security. In other words, throw it right back at them lol
