I've been a Maryland resident since June 20th. I live in Rockville, and my easiest commute to my job in Glen Burnie is the MD-200. When we started our move we didn't know that it was an electronic toll road, but upon learning that it was a toll road I've been taking the I-495 instead to avoid paying so much money for the toll.

For the few times that we used the MD-200 we have not received a bill yet. My parents whose vehicle has a NY license plate received a bill for the use of the MD-200 while helping us with our move to Rockville.

When should I expect to receive a bill for using the MD-200? If any.

It takes a while. I jumped on it in May, and received the bill almost two months later. Paid it online. I was late for an appointment, so I had to take it. I usually just deal with the traffic on 495.

Yes, you'll eventually get the notice...now as for using that road IF you're going to use it in the future....

I know it's a toll road.
But don't forget to weigh the toll spent and time saved using the road....versus..... the time lost and cost of GAS for going the long way. With gas at 3.60 a gallon what's that cost? more or less than the toll?

I go around tolls too -- IF it's worth it money-wise. All I'm saying is there's a cost to going around the toll as well.

Also if you use MD toll road often enough you could get an MD EZpass, which gives discounts on MD tolls. BUT there's a monthly charge for that so unless you use the EZPass ENOUGH, it's not worth it to get one of those either.

You can also get an EZpass from another state that doesn't charge a monthly fee. You'll obviously not be able to take advantage of any discounts provided by MD. But, it may be wroth calculating the actual cost of all the options. $8 a day seems like a lot if you take the entire span, but it may be worth it given the potential time/gas savings.

Also - depending on where in Rockville you live and when you leave the house, going through Olney/Columbia may also be another option (MD-28 - MD29 or I95). Essentially what most did before the ICC.

How much is to use the toll road if you don't have the EZpass and wait for the bill in the mail?

Add $2 to the fare. The base toll varies based on how far you're going, so I can't tell you exactly.

It will also depend on the time you will be going. Rush hr will be different than off peak hrs so check the MD ezpass site for more info.

Is there a commuter plan for MD200? If so, it would be well worth it for regular users.

https://www.ezpassmd.com/en/about/plans.shtml

"InterCounty Connector (ICC)/ MD200: No discount plans available."

I'm guessing that's a negatory.
