I think this thread fits with the spirit of this web site for those who want to know about viable industries in the state.

Here's a recent article on an industry I didn't know we had.

Maryland’s drone industry could reach $2 billion in 10 years

Quote:
Maryland’s economic impact from the unmanned industry between 2015 and 2025 is expected to be about $2 billion, the 14th highest among states. California tops that list with $14.4 billion.

The government’s work in this area includes the FAA recently choosing a partnership between Virginia Tech and Rutgers as one of six nationally to test the integration of unmanned craft into the airspace. A proposal by the University of Maryland, which has researchers working on unmanned projects, was not chosen, but Maryland officials signed a collaborative agreement with the Virginia Tech-Rutgers partnership.

I just mentioned good news about the growing film industry here. What are other industries in Maryland that are viable?

Yes - Beretta, the world's oldest firearms company, still employs a few hundred staff at its U.S. headquarters factory in Accokeek, MD. Because of MD's strict gun laws, Beretta has begun evaluating other states to move their operation to. They have ruled out VA because they perceive its Democratic governor as also strict on guns.

Google has a whole list of articles regarding Beretta and relocation -- here's one from the Atlanta, Georgia Business Journal

Beretta eyes Georgia for gun plant - Atlanta Business Chronicle
