I just moved into a BRAND NEW high rise on Georgia Ave. I pay $1770 a month for rent for a small one bedroom, no one has ever lived in my place and my apartment has mice . I've only been here a week-- the only furniture I have is an airbed. My furniture arrives this evening from Texas. I'm wondering should I request another apartment or should I move furniture into an apartment that have mice?

Our concierge placed traps down last night and I stayed at a hotel, however, I'm hesitant to move furniture into an apartment with mice. My lease has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. So I can move from the property (I really don't want to) without penalty. Any suggestions?

I do not think it is worth finding another apartment as mice are everywhere. They can move more easily than you can!

Give the traps a chance.

I would move ASAP... or ask for a place on the top floor... that is why I always live on the top floor.

I stay in Wheaton and my place does not have mice or roaches. I see a spider and those silver fish things every now and again though (silver fish can destroy things but don't transmit disease... or so I read).

I would get the heck out of there... or buy a cat. Litter box in a 1 bd room won't be cool though.

OK. There may be holes left from construction in the new apartment. If Fashionista can get a higher floor for the same price, she should try for that.

You might want to try a pest control service.

Home Paramount is pretty good.

1700 and you get mice? It never ceases to amaze me of the insanity that is, generally speaking, DC metro area rent. Over. Priced. Rip off. Okay, do not mean to rant, sorry to hear of your situation, move asap and shame on these landlords.

I'm guessing you moved into the Premiere? Check reviews to see if there are other complaints. If there are it might be worth just picking another comparable, new Class A building in DTSS (Solaire, 1155 Ripley, Heritage, etc.). If your problem appears fairly isolated (which is almost certainly is) I'd either just let pest control do its work - it's not like having a couple mice is a rare problem - or demand a new unit in a different area of the building. The market for Class A units is a bit weak so you could probably get them to give you a slightly better unit (higher floor or larger space on a lower floor) in order to keep you as a tenant. Good luck!

I would have assumed as well the building in question would be the Premier. The other new building on GA Ave would be the Heritage, but that's not a high-rise. That's interesting since I was considering moving there and also Eleven55Ripley. I would agree the Class A market is somewhat weak in the DTSS local market, and DC in general. Asking to be on a higher floor or in a larger unit might be a good way to go.
