The B-W has really deteriorated badly. Getting on southbound from Greenbelt road is a third worldish experience. How can they let it get so bad? Is the NPS trying to discourage the FBI from moving to Greenbelt? Seriously, has anyone heard of plans to fix (repave) the Parkway anytime soon?

They need to widen the B-W Parkway to 8 lanes from DC to Anne Arundel County

That's a different issue. I wouldn't complain if it was only 6. My concern is about how long we have to wait for a fix to the current problem? I don't want my car destroyed.

The National Park Service recently repaved the section between New York Avenue and MD 450 in 2012. But that stretch is already falling apart with cracks and bumps in the pavement. And that section already needs restriping.

As a matter of fact, the ENTIRE BW Parkway needs repaving from New York / Kenilworth Avenues all the way up the MD 175, where the Maryland State Highway Administration takes over maintenance from there, the rest of the way up to Baltimore. The state should just take over maintenance of the entire roadway. The BW Parkway needs repaving, restriping, new signage, and widening.

But nothing will probably get done until after the BW Parkway / MD 410 Interchange in Riverdale is reconstructed to accommodate the future MTA Purple Line along MD 410.

that one particular spot is awful. they're probably afraid of working on it due to the headaches it would cause having it shut down. it's already such a parking lot esp. on fridays, i cringe to think of it being shut down to a single lane northbound on a friday.

the rest of BW i don't find to be in that bad of shape, actually.

That is a federal roadway connecting DC to Baltimore in as short as distance as possible. How many traffic lights or intersections with stop signs are on the BWP?
As for the state annexing the road, it will never be relinquished to any but a contractor like Haliburton.

If someone really important commutes on that road on a regular basis and complains the federal government will deem it necessary to repave it; then you will see action.

Are you referring to the I-95/295 Interchange in Greenbelt, Oxon Hill, or Baltimore???

I don't know about the rest since I do not use it regularly anymore, but southbound from Greenbelt most of the way to New York Ave. is not in very good shape at all. The area around Greenbelt is just the worst of it.
