What kind of fish are looking for? Maybe just my opinion here, but the typical Sunnie, Bass, Trout, fish populations you find in most lakes aren't what I think of as aquarium fish...although your opinion can certainly differ.

I always thought Oscars were really cool aquarium fish. They get BIG and you can feed them whole crayfish, which is fun to watch.

I am looking for fish that range from the size of a guppy to 4 times the size of a guppy.

For lakes bass and carp (released exotic) probably. I really don't pay much attention to fish.

You may need to use a seine in the shallows to catch what you're looking for. Also keep in mind waterways like the Patuxent and Potomac are tidal for quite a ways upstream from the mouth and hence are brackish.

Many years ago I fished Great Seneca creek after a stocking

We caught bait in a local stream but caught nothing with it (minnows, crayfish). We put balls of cheese from our cheese sandwiches on the hooks and started catching a bunch.

It was in the spring April/May. Nice 6-7" trout.

Might explain the lack of certain fish.......

A1: Yes, there are no natural lakes in Maryland. All of Maryland's lakes are man made by damming rivers. Some have been named lakes (e.g., Lake Habeeb in Allegany County and Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County), but most have been named reservoirs (e.g., Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County
