Alrighty. We will be driving from Atlanta to Norfolk, Va. Will be in Norfolk for just one day for my son's track meet. Then plan to leave directly after meet at approx. 12 noon to drive into D.C.
The question is where to stay that is along the driving route, around $100 or so or even less per night, a interesting, safe and car friendly spot. If it is walkable all the better. But probably walkable and car friendly don't mix. In that case car friendly trumps

Plan to relax on the first eve which is Friday. Have a planned college tour in the am on Saturday which is in D.C. and then a Capitol Hill tour in the pm. Heading back to Ga. early Sunday morning. So far looking into places in Virginia, just don't know what is best.
