Many parts of South Bronx looks like suburbia today. It has lost its identity.
Ive heard that Bmore is very corrupt, from the city leadership to the police department.
"Lost its identity"? Shouldn't there be more to a neighborhood's identity than crime and ugly boarded up eye sores? Something positive versus which neighborhood is more messed up?
It keeps the rents down and nobody will be displaced. The displacement of the poor seems to be the new agenda in NYC sadly.
While the poor being priced out are the unfortunate side effects of gentrifcation, I can't really stand by and say that crime and decay are good things. There definitely needs to be more balance. All I know is that I want to live in a safe neighborhood not somewhere that requires dodging bullets. So we as a community should certainly look at ways to improve communities for all not just the rich but simply folding our hands and almost encouraging crime and riff raff isn't the way to go.
