I've been here for over a year (DC, NV AREA) and I've never experienced such a soulless, boring, unfriendly place on the planet. I'm checking out Baltimore this weekend.

B'more should be a great alternative. There are way less jobs than DC, the crime is worse, public transportation is no where near what DC has to offer (metro is unbeatable), your commute to a real city (DC) will now take you 1.5 hrs with traffic, your options for enjoying urban life (restaurants, bars, theatre, shopping) will also be greatly reduced in B'more and 'more has not enjoyed the revitalization DC has enjoyed the past 6 - 7 years. In fact B'more has never enjoyed a revitalization. It along with cities like Pittsburg has consistently been losing population. Enjoy.

Hi painfulnv, I am not in love with D.C. either, but I am curious what exactly are you looking for? While you are looking to leave, please try and have a little fun. Maybe someone here can recommend some fun things to get you by. Also, please let me know what you think about Baltimore.

baltimore is growing at a fast pace. Alot of Dc residents are moving to Baltimore because it is the up and coming area just like Dc was at one point. I tell people who are moving to Baltimore from DC are making the right move. Dc is at its peak when it comes to develpments and have move to Baltimore.

Growing up in DC, I also liked Baltimore because it was everything DC was not. I always thought they each had something the other needed and if you could merge them, would make a really great city. Like Milan and Turin.

My friends that aren't willing to go out a lone consider D.C. boring, because they don't have fun sincere people to accompany them to one of the great free events. People like me that go out alone or just in,troduce themselves to people in volunteer groups may not love DC, but we find a way to make the most of it until we get job offers elsewhere!

:-)

Soulless and unfriendly, I'm with you there. But boring? It's what you make of it. There's plenty of stuff to do around here!

You guys are kidding on this one correct? The people here are say not as friendly as those in Southern Viginia, Cuba or rural France but they are light years ahead of places like cities like San Diego, Philly, and Boston and 100 times better than the zenophobes living in most rural and suburban US places.
