Have the cops there always been jacked up on steroids or something? Last night I was following a friend after she had dropped off a friend around UMD afer eating at a diner (no alcohol). We were both headed to Silver Spring, so I was just following here when she hydroplaned and ran off the road. We almost had the car out of the ditch but were having trouble when a police officer arrived and asked if she needed help. She said 'yes', and he said he'd call some other officers in and possible the firetruck. I asked if all was good and she said 'yes', so I left. The next thing I know (today) I am getting her out of jail. She looks like she just got into a fight. She is maybe 5'3", 120#, and white, works for the DOD. All the officers were black. She was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct?!?.. Her police report reads like a fantasy novel.. One section reads "The subject was calm and then she started kicking and screaming and swinging at the officers".. She told me that one of the officers told her that when he was younger he used to get beat up, and now he gets to take it out on people...wtf?..good grief..

That all sounds a little hard to believe. What's her version of the story?

They're calmer now than they used to be.

Why didn't you stay to make sure her car got out? It's not like you left her because she said she was going to hail a cab. Her car ran into a ditch!

Heck, in PG County I would be more fearful of the PG police than I would be of MS-13.

PG cops have a notorious reputation for civil rights violations. It used to be chalked up to race as PG was the rural backwater in this area and the good ole boys used to go to town on Blacks. Yet as some have pointed out the force is more Black if not majority Black and some would argue it's worse.

I recall a few years ago a suspect who just run down and killed a cop mysteriously ended up dead in jail. Not that I personally care either way but it's these types of incidents PG cops have become notorious for.

i rode along with two PGPD cops, both black. they might have been on good behavior because a civvie was with them, but they were pretty cool and courteous with the people they interacted with.
