My wife, newborn, and I are relocating to DC. We are thinking about renting a row house on the 300 Block of 10th street SE (corner of 10th and C). Any opinions regarding the safety of this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I too think he was being sarcastic. From what I have heard this is now a relatively safe area, but just wanted to double check with some people who may have a little more insight.
in general it gets more dangerous on the hill the further east you go - and the further from East Capital street (so in SE, that means further south)
the Eastern market area is a bustling lively area at 7th from just north of C to D street. Lincoln park is a lovely park that draws families, at East Capital from 11th to 13th.
Unless theres a particular issue with that block (I've walked around there a few times, but I can't recall that particular block) its probably pretty safe. That said this IS a city, and due caution should be exercised - dont leave your doors unlocked, dont walk around oblivious to your surroundings, etc, etc.
