I will be moving to washington DC to study in georgetown university. I have been searching for a while, about the living expenses in DC and I haven't been able to reach any conclusion.
I want to know is it possible to live with $1600 per month? Including rent, utilities and food? preferably near georgetown?

Wait hold up. You want to live in WASHINGTON, DC on only $1600, to cover rent, utilities, and food AND live near Georgetown? Not gonna happen, even if you have a roommate that wouldn't work. Since it is G-town U you could sell Meth to help pay the bills though. Otherwise you would have to live somewhere else, maybe rent a room in Columbia Heights or Petworth and either bike or take public transit (train or bus)

You could live in a group house with like 5 other people in the Georgetown area and get by on $1600/month, I would think. You might want to get a little part time job on the side though to generate some extra income.

OP,

You're better off living off Georgetown and taking the bus to school. The price you'd fork up for the additional transportation cost is nothing compared to that additional rental cost.

Live in Crystal City in a studio and take the metro to Rosslyn, then bus to Georgetown...then you can live on $1600.

OP, are you going to Grad School or undergrad.
1600 near Gtown for pretty much everything is impossible. You can live somewhere else with roommates for as low as $900 with all utilities taken care of (this will be hard and you sure as hell won't be living close to georgetown, perhaps Petworth). Then you can do whatever you want with the rest of the $700.

1600 in Georgetown? Surely you jest. I know a single prof f who rents a room for 1800 a month. And she is hot looking!

You can bus/bike somewhere further out. I recommend TREK bikes.

You might want to try Anacostia.
