Back in 2011 everyone was talking about how there were planes to renovate The Ellipse & make E Street a pedestrian plaza. They held a design competition & chose a winner. So why has this project not gotten underway yet? Was the project scrapped? Or is it just taking them forever to get approval from the Secret Service?

NPS moves slowly! There was a consultation process just last fall. The competition you saw was just advisory, BTW.

OK thank you so much! I looked forever for some kind of up to date article on the project and never found anything. I am so happy to hear that this plan is still underway and I hope it happens. This plan would reconnect the White House to the Ellipse and provide for better pedestrian access. It will be truly wonderful when it is completed
