Hi y'all!

I'm looking to rent a warehouse/loft in the DC metro area with some windows. Do you have any suggestions for buildings/areas that would be within about $1100/month?

Thanks so much!
Will

DC a) doesn't have loft/warehouse-style apartments because we don't have an industrial past, and b) really doesn't have apartments at that price point unless you are in an undesirable neighborhood.

An apartment in that price range is going to be either in a dangerous neighborhood or a very very small efficiency apartment.

As the other users pointed out this is not going to happen in DC. DC is much more expensive than where you are probably coming from. If you want that type of housing, in that price range, may I direct you to Baltimore. $1100 may get you a small studio or english basement in a nice area, and that is about it.

There aren't many lofts at all in DC. I know this because I was featured (yes my own little plug) in the Express 2 years ago because I was living in a nice loft which is quite rare in DC. Foundry Lofts was costing me about $2,400/month in rent. Good luck with trying to find anything under $1,100/month in DC.

If you are a genuine artist, there is this place: http://www.artspace.org/our-places/b...artspace-lofts

Mt Ranier has a similar place, describe in this article: http://dc.urbanturf.com/articles/blo...l_of_corn/2472

I have also read about artist spaces in the Takoma DC area.

Agreed. That price could get you a luxury loft apartment in downtown Baltimore, or a huge unfinished (but probably plumbed) space in an area like Station North.

Most of the warehouses in the DC area would be in single-story facilities, without much in the way of windows, and in auto-accessible locations.

If you find a warehouse loft in DC it's a FAKE (like so much else there) modern construction luxury unit. Baltimore is the way to go if you can.
