Wow I only pay 42.40 round trip on ez pass from Massachusetts ( Springfield area) to Manassas Va. But then again I use the Tappan Zee bridge and GSP for half of Jersey. It generally takes me about 6 hours each way.

You can skip quite a few of the tolls.
--The Baltimore tunnels can be avoided by going through the Baltimore city streets. Adds about 15 minutes.
--The Hatem bridge in Maryland has an an annual pass you can buy for about $35. If you buy that, you can avoid the $8 northbound toll at the Tydings bridge for about a 7 minute detour.
--The I-95 tolls at the Delaware state line are easily avoided with a 7 minute detour both northbound and southbound using the "last exit before toll."
--I-295 parallels the NJ Turnpike for quite a distance in NJ, for free.

I go to South and Central NJ pretty frequently, and I've done it several times paying nothing in tolls (with the Hatem annual pass). I usually do pay for the Baltimore tunnel though, since that definitely gives the most bang for the buck in terms of toll costs.

Would it be possible for you to email the excel data used to find this value, or just explain where they came from so that I can cite this number for a report I am working on. I am fumbling through the NJ, NY websites and this might be quicker.

This post is from 2013. The tolls have likely changed since then. You're better off doing your own research.

This website has the tolls for each state on 95: I-95 Tolls | I-95 Exit Guide.
