Hi all,
I have a few friends visiting DC next month and we want to do something special on a Saturday night, either dancing or a unique place to have drinks (like a museum party or something else). Keep in mind this is for a bunch of women in their mid-late thirties so no clubs filled with college kids.

Any tips? I've looked up the embassy events and nothing is happening on that date.

If it wasn't winter I would suggest The Graham hotel rooftop. It has a great view and its a pretty relaxed crowd. Georgetown in general has become more low key since U street and H street blew up a few years ago.

Capital Hill is another area to go on a weekend night if you're over 35. It has a good strip of nightlife and restaurants but it doesn't get too crazy.

Overall DC really caters mostly to the younger crowd (20-somethings) on Fridays and Saturdays. Its kind of hard to avoid unless you do something boring like go out to dinner and see a movie.

Is there any city that doesn't cater to the young ones?

When you go to other cities, you just go out and one can find entertainment for all ages. DC, you have designated alphabet letter "corridors".

In cities like Miami, except for stars, the "young ones" aren't spending 100k on bottles. It's a grown man's game. And the young ones don't jump around the dance floor like they are at some frat house.... Most venues are 21+. In DC, most of these new venues popping up are all 18+ with kids...

To answer your question- most venues you are going to find young college kids- especially in those corridor settings. Here is a list of places I think you may wish to research with a more mature sexy vibe:

POV (W Hotel)
18 Street Lounge
Definitely stop for a drink and tapas at The Barcelona on 14 St (great mature crowd and I am the resident dj )
Sax Restaurant and lounge (very european/russian)
Toro Toro (Latin Nights)
STK steak house
The Manor
Lost Society
Gazuza (sushi/hooka) but the crowd can be sketchy depending.
The Gryphon (research before)

Stay away from 14 between H-K streets (mostly young folk in suits). I may pop back in when others come to mind.

The Gryphon on a Saturday night? You're joking right?

I guess if you're into cocaine.
