After researching apartments in neighborhoods recommended by people on this forum, I decided to look at the prospect of buying vs renting. In the process, I came across two new condo developments, Logan13 and The Corey.

I am mostly interested in thoughts on the immediate neighborhoods of each. How do they compare with each other? Are they safe? Considered good neighborhoods? Are the neighborhoods established, or in flux? Any thoughts/comments on either complex would be very much appreciated!

I remember your thread.... you will be working in Tysons Corner? If that is the case I would definitely recommend not buying in DC, at least not at first. The commute from DC to Tysons Corner is quite lengthy and a lot of people wouldn't be able to tolerate it long-term. It would be a really good idea to rent for at least a year and see if you can handle the commute. You may find you might want to buy in Virginia to have a shorter commute. Or you might find advantages to DC that make it worth the long commute, and then you can buy. Definitely don't buy before you've spent at least a year in the area and have a better feel for it.

StateofNature-- You bring the logical contrast to my more impulsive instincts. And you're definitely right, it would be risky, if not foolish, to buy before living in the area and getting a feel for the life. However, just for fun, what do you think of the two condo developments?

Logan13 would be preferable over the Corey, all else being equal except for the location.

The Corey appears to be located in Trinidad, which is pretty ghetto and will remain ghetto for a while.

Any neighborhood in DC is worth a long commute of course. Takoma, Brookland, Petworth, Trinidad, H street, you name it. Your **** wont stink as long as you have a DC address.

Please dont call Trinidad "ghetto." Youre just racist and hate black people.
