I have been living in Arlington since September. Its a nice area and I really enjoy living in Arlington, only a few stops from Rosslyn, Farragut, etc. Some friends are getting a place in Friendship Heights and were looking to see if I wanted to move in as a roommate. I need to move anyway and was going to probably remain in Arlington but find a new place here, however, I only have a few days to decide whether to find a place in Arlington or commit to moving to FH.

FH does seem like a great place and its on the red line. Night life isn't as good as Arlington but most of the time my friends and I go DC, and I'm not a big fan of the Clarendon stretch. I would also be saving money in FH, even if its a bit further from work. Plus there's tons of stores and restaurants in FH, even if it is slightly further from the main drag in DC.

For a 25 year old, what are your thoughts on FH versus staying in Arlington?

Where do you work? That would be the biggest factor for me.

I have a friend that lives in Friendship Heights. It's a nice area, but snobby. Many good restaurants and shopping options. The Metro ride to downtown is about 15-20 minutes give or take. An Uber ride to DC night life is about 20-40 minutes depending on where you're going and traffic conditions and it will run you about $15-$20 if you use Uber X.

It borders Bethesda which has SOME night life, but nothing mind blowing. The Wisconsin Avenue strip that goes from Friendship Heights to Georgetown has a lot to offer. Mostly family friendly stuff though until you get to Georgetown.

Overall its a good place to live. But its not a "hip" or "young" area by any means. Lots of families and senior citizens. You will still see yuppies peppered in here and there.

If its cheaper I say go ahead. Arlington isn't any better outside of being a little closer to downtown DC and a little younger demographically.

Two good livable areas. But if I already lived in Arlington I would probably stay put.
