Greetings friends,

I do not live in the DC area, but will be in DC for Veterans Day weekend, while there a group of about 30 of us are planning on doing the Veterans Day 10k.

My reason for coming here is to ask a few questions from some people who may have more knowledge on this race. Maybe some suggestions on where we can meetup together before the race. I assume that most of us will be taking the Metro from near the Zoo.

So I my first question would be; has anyone here done this race before? I would love to ask a few questions and get some tips. The group will mostly be walking.

Thanks

I usually do races in DC. They typically always start in front of the Washington Monument, though I haven't done this particular race. It looks like it starts near the Tidal Basin.

Tips:
-Make sure to always check the race website first. https://www.runpacers.com/race/veterans-day-10k/course/
-Show up to the race site at least 30-40 mins early to ensure you are able to find the starting line. Metro should be fine, but it may be a few blocks away from the nearest station.
-Make sure to follow the packet pick-up instructions. They are usually the day before the race or directly before the race start.
-Make sure to bring fluids in case there are no water stations

FYI, you can take Metro after the race but probably won't be able to take it beforehand as it doesn't open early enough (generally operates on a Sunday schedule for federal holidays, so the first train out of Woodley Park would be 8:21am). Your best bet would be a cab or Uber/Lyft down as close as you can to the race start.
