Hi
I am taking a contract job in Olympia and would like to know where to go, what to see etc. I am interested in the lesbian/gay areas also.
I will be working in 10 hour shifts a hospital, nights so I have lots of time off to see the sights.

I am also interested in what the weather is like during the summer-I will be there from July until late September. I am sure it will be a big change from the tropical Florida weather I am used to!

Any information will be great and thanks in advance!

Nancy

Nice time of year to be here...

If you like outdoors... check out the National Parks... stunning and breath taking.

If you like water... get out on the sound and explore, kayaking is great around Olympia. The Boston Harbor marina rents boats by the hour and is only minutes from downtown.

Night Life... for my money... it's mostly an hour up the road in Seattle...

Best bet on weather is mid July through the end of August... although I like it year round... including the occasional snow that is all but gone by noon.

Enjoy your stay and query your co-workers for interesting local spots.

Thanks and they all sound like good suggestions. I am planning on a few! I love the outdoors especially with weather cooler than in Florida

Tacoma has a big park with a zoo near or on the waterfront as I remember (Point Defiance Zoo). That wouldn't be too far from Olympia.
