What are the average Power/Electrical kilowatt rates in the Bellingham/ Lynden/ Blaine Area.

What would I expect to be paying Summer/ vs Winter for a 3 bd 1200-1500 sq ft house.

Actually, compared to other areas of the country, 10 cents a Kw (including fees and tax) for a thousand Kw is a bargain and in others not so.

Most of the 1000 Kw in the SF Bay Area of California is 30 cents a Kw with teir rate pricing

Gosh, our monthly power bill for an all-electric house is a $100/month in winter!!!

If we lived in Bellingham that's $300/month and $1,000/month in California.

Are you guy's paying for all those windmills or what??

Gosh if I know...

I believe believe the reason for the tiered system is to encourage conservation... the more you use, the higher the rate and much larger the bill.

I know people in WA with a large home, all electric, well water and a shop that pay $800 in the winter...

Yes, everyone does. For every MW of wind power there is some backup plant to cover it when the wind stops, and usually a large extension of the grid to bring the power to where it can be used. And when the winds blow well the WM's don't throttle back but someone has to so other plants are idled and water is diverted from hydro generators.

There is no free lunch.

Our rates have gone up alot, near .11 kw/hr. The area keeps growing and the hikes keep coming due to increased demand and the required "infrastructure improvements" excuse thrown at the states utilty commision. We did all CFL bulbs and it did help. Big ticket items though like the vacuum, water heater, oven, toaster, iron, and hair dryer are the ones that minimal use will really save some bucks.
All that said my best last year was $80 worst was $280, we have electric heat.
