Hi, I just work thru the area as a locomotive engineer, I like the smaller towns, as I was raised in E. Washington. I currently live south of Portland Orgun, and do not like the traffic but the small town isn't bad. When staying in Centrailia at the motel, have had a few driving tours from the nice hotel driver and I like it alot. Small town atmosphere with alot of nice people and amenities of the bigger towns like Portland. Fast food joints and stores(outlet mall). Rains a bit to much for me, but nice place it seems, Winlock and Napavine aren't too far away and nice places from what I've seen on my way down the tracks. Hope this helps a bit, besides the rain I have been considering this area for retirement home, but thats 20 years away lol, as is close to I-5. Vader maybe be a place to look into also, about twenty or so miles south of Centraila/Chehalis area.

Skizziks, don't overlook Morton. It's kind of an interesting little town, even been there?

Michelle, you try to sound all liberal, but I am thinking not. I am not sure about your husband, but it sounds like you want everything your way or no way. I live near Chehalis and I think we are doing just fine without your kind. I am sure the people in Tennesee feel the same way. There is no perfect place.

Huh? What are you responding to?
First off, the OP wrote nearly four years ago!
And next, what on earth did she say to tick you off?
This is one of the weirdest responses I've seen on C-D, and I've seen some strange ones!

I lived a year in Winlock, then the next 5 years in Chehalis up on Newaukum Hill, working at Centralia Hospital as a young nurse. Can't wait to see all the old places again next month on a visit; the first one in 35 years. After only 6 years in the area, it changed my life for the better, and wish to return permanently soon. Small town living is great for the soul; and you can be free to join any church you want (or not) and check out Yard Birds, if it is still standing and breakfast at 'Country Cousins'. The scenery alone, strawberry fields, chicken-egg farms and the home of Big Foot. What more could you want?? lol
