My husband is in the USCG and we may be transferring to either Silverdale or Port Angeles area by July...we both don't know much about Washington, so I was wondering what are some nice areas around each of these cities? We have a 7 month old daughter and would like a quiet, suburban area..Any advice would be appreciated, thank u!

Either place should fit the bill. Silverdale is totally suburban. Nearby Poulsbo is worth checking out too. Port Angeles is its own smaller city. Sequim isn't too far from Port Angeles, and is a popular spot for retirees due to its location in the Olympic rainshadow.

All of the above are great places to live, though for me it would be Poulsbo.
Silverdale has all the shopping, Port Angeles and Sequim are pretty secluded and far out, which is why the retirees like them, but for entertainment activities Silverdale and Poulsbo are convenient to the Bremerton and Bainbridge ferries to Seattle.

Port Orchard is very doable and very family oriented, a so called bedroom community, lots of navy and coast guard families. Housing is plentiful, school options and shopping too, plus you are located close enough to go to tacoma and seattle by highway or seattle by ferry...lots of great neighborhoods too.

Seabeck could be another option, it is beautiful in the woods with beautiful views. It's about 8 miles west of Silverdale
