This is NOT going to turn into a weather debate, but straight from the horse's mouth, Seattle's summer high's average in the mid 70's.

If the climate data on this site is correct, western Wa is sunnier in the summer but all of Wa is pretty much equally cloudy the rest of the year? Looking at the sunshine and cloudy days graphs, Sequim looks MORE cloudy than Seattle.

Also, does Walla Walla really have over twice the annual precip as the nearby tri-cities area (this according to wikipedia data)?

Eastern WA on average receives more sun hours than Western WA. This link explains the particulars of the many microclimates (and percentage that sun times that each area receives; it also explains a bit why Walla Walla receives more rain amount than nearby Tri-Cities): CLIMATE OF WASHINGTON

We have too many RE agents touting Sequim as the "banana belt" of Western WA... do not fall for this marketing ploy. If you are not from W.Wa, you're not going to get why the natives/long-time W.Wa residents rave about Sequim being "sunny". Its almost a comical joke. This isn't to say Sequim isn't for you, it could be-- just don't believe it being more "sunny".

The best place for the OP to look at is between Sequim and Port Angeles, in the area off 101 between about Kitchen Dick Rd and Deer Park Rd. Easy commute into work in Sequim, and much more rural with plenty of wildlife including an amazing number of hummingbirds. Look on the mountain side, and if you get up a little in elevation there is more of the 4 seasons
and about 1/3 the rain of Seattle. We left the SF Bay Area 20 years ago and would never go back other than for short visits.
Got tired of the brown hills, 100+ degree summer/fall, and smog.
