I am planning a move to Washington in May and would like to purchase a home. I have noticed that Tacoma offers the same size in housing for a much lower cost. I"m going to have a new baby in January so schooling is important and quality of living. I would probably not commute for working so how is the job market in Tacoma and would the higher prices of Seattle be worth it? My first choice from the start was seattle.

What's your budget like? What is your price range for housing? Would you be working after the baby is born? From your post, since you say that you would not be commuting for work but then ask about the job market, does this mean you plan to walk/use public transportation, are you self-employed? All this stuff makes a big difference. Give us a better snapshot of your situation and what you're looking for.

Working after the baby comes depends on what I'm paying for in housing. As far as commuting I am saying that if Tacoma were to be my choice I would find work in Tacoma... and so forth... So I was wondering if there were good jobs to be had in Tacoma.. As far as budget I'm looking at about 60 thousand a year without me working.
