My husband is getting a job in Everett... and we're questioning moving up there from California. I was looking for opinions of Everett, and other possible towns around it. We don't like the city hustle and bustle... we like the open area and low noise. I've been reading the forums, and have gotten mixed reviews but no-one says anything about having kids and what not. My main concern is them and their safety... along with the schools and such. Any information on Everett and the surrounding towns would be awesome. Thanks!

NOT Lake Stevens. The traffic in and out of there is horrendous. Mukilteo is perfect. I lived there while working in Everett. You have like a 10 minute commute, as you are going opposite of the main traffic morning and evening. The scenery is beautiful, and I felt very safe with my young son going to school there. The area of Harbour Pointe is awesome. Just a few blocks out of the "official" Harbour Pointe neighborhood houses are much more affordable, but you get all the advantages that it has to offer.

Mukilteo is nice, but pricey compared to other places. It really boils down to what you are used to. Growing up in Boston, Everett was like the country to me whereas a friend from Iowa thought Everett was a crazy city. Lake Stevens is a nice bedroom community and the traffic is bad only if you have "normal" hours. I stayed in LS while commuting to Everett and didn't have a problem. I had to be at work at 7 though, so I missed the rush. And it's nothing compared to NYC, LA or any other major city traffic.
