I got a call back to discuss job interviews from a legit that's actually legit, and their salary starts off at $15/hours for a customer service rep (I hope that I wouldn't be one), to like $60-70 grand/year. I'm not the biggest fan of Everett, but if it were to get me far away from St. Louis, Missouri...

You can get a 1-br. around Everett and Lynnwood for IDK, around $1000/mo., give or take 100$. (See Craigslist, to get an idea). So that would be tight for you if you start out at $15 (unless there's overtime), but hopefully you'll get a raise or two in the first year. I think you'll appreciate the change in climate. With luck, they'll start you a little higher than that. Look for a studio, if they do start you at $15.

What kind of a job is this you're interviewing for, that offers such a broad salary range? Who interviews cross-country, just for customer svce. rep? Is this a car dealership, or pharmaceutical company, or something? Is there a commission involved? Do you have experience they want?

$15 is more than the minimum, which is $11 (vs $7.70 in Missouri), but not by much. The minimum goes up to $11.50, $12, and $13.50 in 2018, 2019, and 2020, so any raises you get could just keep you even. Everett is still in the Seattle commute bubble, so rents are being driven up. Since 2011, the average rent for a one-bedroom has gone from $786 to $1,207.

If making $50,000 in St. Louis, you'd need to make $72,359 in Everett to stay even, according to one COL calculator I looked at. In Seattle, you'd need to make $103,580.
