I guess I have to explain my comment about salmon.

I received a reputation comment saying

"You can't just take salmon anytime, anywhere you feel like it. It's very tightly regulated."

My comment was

"Salmon is easy just find something that is open unless you're fishing off the coast."

When I say "OPEN" I mean legally "OPEN" for the species you are fishing. Which would be opposite of "CLOSED" for the species you would like to hunt/harvest/fish.

Someone probably already mentioned this--don't have enough time to read through thread--but Joemma Beach is great for bottom fishing. I caught over a dozen fish bottom fishing there in 90 minutes. They're only sculpin though. But kids love it. Every time I go there, I see little ones having fun, so if you have kids that's good.
