I agree, however, that many Western WA residents are moving to Eastern (or Central!) WA. But this isn't because Western WA is "awful", it is solely due to cost of living, with traffic congestion coming in at a distant 2nd.

As for stores, you do realize that these so-called "Western Washington" stores are conglomerates that are not headquarterd in Western WA, (except for Costco). It is more of a function of a growing population desiring the big chains.

Nobody asked me to vote if I should be represented by a western Washington Congressman.

It is more than Costco.....even the dope shops are being run by western Washington refugees.

AND.....IT IS BECAUSE western Washington is AWFUL......really the weather, cost of living, politics, homelessness, and traffic congestion do NOT MAKE IT AN AWFUL PLACE TO LIVE!!!!

So why are they ALL leaving ASAP??

As for congressional district changes, yes you had a say. Apparently you were not paying attention, unless you recently moved to this district.

Again, some people are leaving because of the high cost of living and traffic. I would guess that 98% would choose to stay in Western Washington if not for these issues.

Perhaps you might proof read your posts...

\

Lived in Wenatchee Valley since 85.

I WAS paying attention.

Trust me...nobody asked. Oh....they might have held some meetings in western Washington on redistricting.

My friend even wrote newspaper articles...on the fact that eastern Washington started halfway up Grant Road towards Pangborn Airport.

It was great to have a western Washington congressman.....when people asked him about "apples". He wanted to know why people in Wenatchee were concerned about a Chinese tech company headquartered in California!!!

Change it immediately.

Spokane is in eastern WA and Yakima is in central WA.
So it is now written, so it shall be done.
About darn time you cleared that up.

I grew up in western Oregon and people there referee to central Oregon as eastern Oregon. It drove me nuts and I will always refer to central Washington or central Oregon as central and not eastern. In both states the cascades are the dividing line and for many people everything west is liberal, wet, and referee to as western. Everything east is dry, conservative, and called eastern. The Washington Dept of Ecology uses the cascades to separate the state between eastern and western for stormwater regulation. Good thing because stormwater in Yakima is more similar to Spokane than Bellevue.

I grew up in Wenatchee and we called anything west of the cascades, "the coast".

Central Oregon has the same problem as Central Washington. Central Oregon is just like the billboards on SoundTransit buses say. Central Oregon is from the Cascades crest to maybe 10-30 miles east of 97. The climate, geology, farms are very different in all the region's of Oregon and Washington.

This one is really kind of goofy. When I worked in Moses Lake and Wenatchee I noticed that many people native to eastern Washington would call Seattle "the coast." Huh? Seattle's not on the coast at all. It's on Puget Sound. Puget Sound does have salt water because it's inland ocean water. That is so ignorant to call everything west of the Cascades the "coast."

Now, as far as calling Wenatchee, Chelan, Manson, Yakima, Tri-Cities, etc., "eastern Washington," that is exactly right. They are all east of the Cascades. The Cascade Mountains determine east or western designations for cities and towns in Washington state. It's really simple - don't overcomplicate it.

No, not ignorant. We all knew the geography of it, but thank you for the lesson. It's just what we called heading over the cascades in the 60's.

Eh - Everything East of the Mississippi is on the East coast for me.

It's all a matter of perspective.
