Get a RE agent, now so that you understand the Market and various options.
Seattle and Eastside RE has been a bit wild since 2014.
Stay close to workplace unless you can WFH.
You mostly likely, won't hear the McCord's jets either landing or taking off. The jets are the big ones, C5, C17's that drop fast, and climb sharply. If you want airport noise, try a line from Beacon Hill to Eastern Ave, Seattle, or OakHarbor on Whidbey Is.
Goodluck on getting the job offer. think about negotiating for a housing bonus.
TumWater, water at the Tumwater spring, is extremely sweet. Delicious.

Work in Lacey, very little reason for them to live in Tacoma or Seattle / Eastside or pay attention to their real estate markets unless really a big city people. And the OP said they aren't.

I grew up in Gig Harbor and helped my mom clear and sell her house of 47 years. Yes, there is a lot of beautiful properties there.

Lacey would not be good commute due to the traffic and as mentioned the bridge toll. Downtown Gig Harbor itself is a freakin' post card ready to be taken but it's such a small part of the greater area. Traffic is horrid and it's getting very crowded.

OP, you've got a lot of great options in the Lacey area.
