One thing I saw recently that may well affect rentals in Bremerton is the expected arrival of the Ronald Reagan... some time this year.

I saw another story that it has left and is at sea now, but don't know when it's expected to arrive.

I saw that they have a huge apartment complex that's mainly for short- and medium-term rentals, for the navy. Mostly studios of varied sizes and 1-br units, but a few larger ones.

I'll check out Silverdale, too, for sure. I see there's a Virginia Mason-related hospital there, which is encouraging. It's good to hear that Bremerton is on the up-and-up. I got a different impression a few years ago from this forum.
Yes, message anytime.

I just returned for a month-long trip there in December-January and actually went to downtown West Bremerton.

Silverdale is nice, IMO. Water, mountains, no traffic jams, etc.

There is a hospital there, yes.

Lots of military areas on Kitsap, but I rarely notice it.

The Naval Shipyard (PSNS).

Bangor Trident Submarine base

Keyport (manufacturing only I think).

Aircraft carriers come into Bremerton. I've long forgotten the details and normal lengths of stay. They do out on "Westpac" for 6 months at a time and are gone. Families stay, of course.

We had lots of military in Monterey while living there due to Naval Post Graduate School (NPS), the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and Presidio of Monterey. We actually enjoyed our military folks as they came and went. Some even came back and retired there including our landlord who we rented a nice home from. It did affect the community in a number of ways including rents in the form of demand. But it was more of a constant influx and outflow with new students arriving at the beginning of the year and others graduating. So, overall, it wasn't that significant in terms of daily life. I guess if you were looking to rent at the exact same time families were moving in at the beginning of the school year, that could be a bit more challenging.

San Diego is the same way where my wife is from with lots of Navy ships coming and going all the time. We were so used to it, it's more unusual living in Vancouver not having any military bases nearby. They are few and far between in this part of the PNW except for that part of WA.

^^ I grew up in a military town, went to undergrad & grad in military towns, worked for the military, bought my first house in a military town. It was never a detriment, just always part of life & I kinda miss it.

But back on topic, Silverdale is a very nice place to live, IMO, has all that one needs.
