I was looking at the stats on this site and according to them there are 11 reg sex offenders?? The town is quite small. Also the number of rapes posed are six in 2006!

Is this area safe to ive in? Safe neighborhoods? It looks absolutely beautiful and I was just wondering thanks

According the the city-data stats page "The number of registered sex offenders compared to the number of residents in this city is near the state average." The crime index is less than the national average, 256 vs 323, but the way things have been going that is small comfort.

There are lots of travelers passing through on the highway to the ferry terminal. There is probably a lot of extra crime right along the main drag but I doubt if it extends out into the neighborhoods.

I have been up there a few times and have ridden my bike all over the town and it looks well kept and safe. The downtown area isn't in the part of the town impacted by the highway and it is clean and friendly with lots of businesses for both residents and tourists.

I'm a woman. I've been in Anacortes many times, day and night. I've never felt anything but safe and relaxed walking around, driving around, shopping, browsing, hiking, wandering around the water, looking into tidepools, photographing sunsets... Annie gets my personal thumbs up.
