Is there an easy way commute from downtown tacoma to Good Samaritan hospital WITHOUT a car? I assume a bus would be best. How long would it take? Driving would take 20 minutes according to mapquest, not sure with traffic. I'd prefer to not drive though.

I will be working overnight shifts at Good Sam (~6:30 pm - 7:30 am) and trying to figure out a convenient place to live.

Tentatively, I'm leaning towards THea's landing. There don't seem to be any decent apts in Puyallup and not sure i'd want to live there anyways. Any locals with opinions?

I am a young single male. Hoping to be close to dining and culture, which makes me favor downtown tacoma.

Not sure if there would be any reasonable ways other than car. There is the Sounder train but I just don't think it would be worth it just to go to Puyallup. And I am not sure about it it would work with your hours. Driving is a pretty straight shot from the downtown Tacoma area, down River Road and then right on Meridian and you are there.

Ok. If that's the case, I might as well find an apartment near Good Samaritan since there is the Sounder station in Puyallup that can go straight to Seattle. I wouldn't even need a car..

Puyallup is clean and pretty with lots of small very old rental houses.also apartments sprinkled throughout.South Hill with South Hill Mall is 5 minutes from Good Sam's.Sounders Train is 5 minutes in the opposite direction from good Sam's right downtown puyallup..Rental apartments 5-10 minute walk from Good Sam's.

I actually just looked and taking the bus would be a 32 minute trip in the evening to head to work from dt Tacoma to Good Sam.

Also while yes you can head to Seattle on the Sounder it isn't a 24/7 train. So a day trip is ok but if are expecting to hit up the nightlife don't take the Sounder.
