I would gladly trade the extreme heat, humidity, and blazing sunshine for some rain and those lovely temperatures they have across the pond.
Same here, but I can understand why they wouldn't want it. It gets redundant there.
As much as I despise the heat, I keep trying to remind myself that it could be worse... we could be in a drought. My heart aches for those who have the excessive heat and drought. I couldn't imagine the misery.

I can understand their frustration, but I definitely prefer England's current weather over the searing heat here in the US. At least there you could go outside and be comfortable, leave the windows open for fresh air, etc. All you could do here is either swim or run up the electric bill. I'm grateful for A/C, but the air gets kind of stale after having the house closed up for days.

This is so true. And I hate stale air. (Just not as much as the heat and humidity!)
As for the electric bill, that's definitely true. The way I cope with it is like this:
I live in an apartment. My electric bill is small in the spring, fall and winter because I don't have to pay for heat and I have very few things I need electricity for. (Two lamps, a computer, a stove and a fridge.) During those times of low bills, I pay extra and let the credit build up for these summer months of high bills due to the air-conditioner. If a person is able to do this (even $5 or $10 extra), it really, really makes a world of difference.
