International Falls, MN must have heard its name mentioned: They broke a record this morning when the low temp fell to -46 F …the coldest in 100 years:
The cold is coming east soon. I see a -34°F forecast for Saranac Lake, NY sunday night. That's the icebox of the Northeast. I camped there in late May a couple years ago and it was below freezing in the morning.

All time record low is -35 F.
When I was there in March a few years ago it dropped below zero. I guess that isn't completely unusual, but still cold for March! They have beautiful summers though. Nice place to escape the summer heat.
For some reason Saranac Lake doesn't have the coldest temperature in the Adirondacks. Old Forge, NY does. -52°F (-46.6°C), coldest ever recorded in the Northeast.
I can imagine Saranac Lake can get too cold for summer some days. On the other hand, it can get very warm and humid.
What range does China get? It has a rather strong continental climate and a large latitude range.
