18c eh? Don't think so somehow. There was snow in October in london only a few years ago. All your averages seem to go against me.

Daily averages :

Oct 5 : 9.3°C / 17.4°C (records: -0.4°C / 27.9°C)
Oct 6 : 9.1°C / 17.5°C (0.1°C / 28.4°C)
Oct 7 : 9.0°C / 17.3°C (-0.6°C / 28.2°C)
Oct 8 : 8.7°C / 17.1°C (-0.9°C / 26.8°C)
Oct 9 : 9.1°C / 17.0°C (1.3°C / 26.1°C)

Note that those records are very old (1880-1930) so it probably won't get that extreme. The data used here is 1961-1990 (or 1971-2000), not 1981-2010, and is taken from Montsouris station, so I suggest you add a good 2 degrees for the lows and 1 degree for highs.

Yeah, it was the first snow in October for 74 years (28th Oct 2008), it's not really a common occurrence. The average high for the first few days of Oct is 17-18C. The monthly average is 15.6C, the average high on 31st is around 13-14C.

Well thats extremely weird because 18c is warm and october is autumn. It is 14c here today. I have my doubts about 18c in october. Don't care what the averages say because most of the time for here they are wrong.

In addition to dhdh's post, here are the record low highs and high lows:

Record low high / Record high low
Oct 5 : 8.4°C / 15.9°C
Oct 6 : 9.9°C / 15.5°C
Oct 7 : 8.4°C / 15.7°C
Oct 8 : 9.1°C / 14.9°C
Oct 9 : 9.4°C / 17.8°C

I'd say it's safe to say that you won't have any 21°C low.

Here's what the last few Octobers looked like:

I spent a few days there recently and the weather was nicely changeable. Rained quite heavily upon our arrival and mostly cloudy over the next few days with some sunny breaks in between and quite cool compared to Berlin and Amsterdam.

What summer? Not a lot of sun and 70's temps doesn't seem it to me. Never breaks 80F for an avg high. For others am sure it is warm enough though.

I'd say C-, mostly cause of the cool summer, I like the winter much more. It would be a B+ or higher if summer temps cracked into the 80's(with more sun).

It certainly is. I lived 5 miles from Heathrow Airport for 12 years (where these stats are from) and it was regularly 18 degrees or warmer in early October, in fact it regularly exceeded 20°C, even 25°C was exceeded in a few years.

I don't really feel a huge gap between 78°F and 80°F, but, well, obviously you do.

I should have been more specific and say into the mid to upper 80's. Our avg high for J/J/A/S are 83F, 87, 85, and 78. I'm sure I would feel that difference, and I really wouldn't want my summer much cooler than what I have now. The other feature I like about summer here is the warm nights. J/J/A/S here is 64, 69, 68, and 60. Nights in Paris in summer would feel very cool to me. I've only been to Europe in the other seasons and not summer, except for Spain. But from what I hear from friends is that they had to wear a sweatshirt at night or light jacket cause of the coolness.
