Too many want to escape long winters in the north and want something as different as possible so go for the heat and never having to shovel snow again as the answer.
That would be me
Packing things up in January and heading south
I'm not terribly sensitive to noises, but I do get tired of the extra noise you get in the Summer months. I hate the sound of gas powered yard tools, Harleys with straight pipes (which is every Harley here), loud music from cars because people roll their windows down, etc. And of course almost every truck here (and many cars) seemingly has no mufflers. But I hear that all winter, too, unlike the Harleys.
But to me nothing matches the heat and humidity for pure misery. Sunday we were near 100F, and the heat index was well over 100F. I only got out when I absolutely had to, and there were people out everywhere! I don't know how they stand it! People were doing yard work, laying out in the sun, riding bicycles, walking, driving around in convertibles with the tops down, etc. It's like I was watching a species completely different than me. And it's not just the heat, but the blinding sun and complete, utter lack of any sort of breeze. Of course, if there were a breeze the air would be so hot that it wouldn't matter.
Texas bites too. The only time I can do yard work is right at the crack of dawn until about 8:00 a.m. Even then, it's horrible but I know I'd have a heat stroke if I tried to stay out any later. My goodness. It was still 88 humid degrees at 1:00 this morning. A few more years to retirement and I'm out of the south. I absolutely hate southern summers.
Is it absolutely insane that I would move to Quebec for the weather?
No. I was thinking Canada the other day, but I'm not sure where since I haven't a clue about it. From elementary school geography though, I do remember the provinces. I just know I want to live out "my last years" some place so beautiful that it can't be beat!!
I think most people find temps between 70-90F comfortable and easy to dress for. Dressing for a 25F day is like getting ready for a space walk.
Yikes! 90 is way too hot! I prefer no warmer EVER than 55. What am I doing in Texas? I haven't a clue! Whoops! I see you said "to dress for." That may be true, but I'd rather be comfortable and put on a few more layers, if need be.
I don't understand how somebody can like hot weather (for me that is 86 F or warmer). I like sunshine and temps between 0 F to 85 F (~-18 C to ~30 C)...the temperature depends on the season.
