The island culture of Hawaii includes moderate-high levels of racism directed mostly towards white people

I've met several guys from Hawaii, and of the white guys,
most of them claimed to have been beaten up several times, just for being white.
Being Asian would be all right, as the Hawaiians choose not to view them as "imperialistic."
Black would be better than white as well. Anything but a race that appears white.
Sorry, I but I can't choose to be of a different ethnicity so as not to offend.

I'd rather NOT live in Hawaii to not have that stress that goes along with it.

I've heard something similar about Honolulu which is too bad...
I wonder if it's prevalent all over Hawaii or just certain areas?

Default Hawaiian "Island culture"

It's supposedly the dominant culture of people raised in Hawaii.
If there are areas with high numbers of transplants, I would figure most transplants couldn't care less.

Ironically, I find the culture of Hawaiians,
the way they view themselves, without thinking of white people very intruiging.
I like the idea of luaus, hula, surfing, "aloha spirit", polynesian artisitic styles etc.

But it's strange that they'd be like
"...So you like us, thanks, but don't get in our way, we still are annoyed you're white, consider yourself lucky we LET you stay here (unharmed)..."
Nevermind if that person happens to be American and has every right to be there.

I suppose there are a lot of people from visible minorities in similar situations,
being very intruiged by ideas from other cultures,
yet most of the people who share those ideas wouldn't like the person based on a technicality like appearance.

**Another irony**

Japanese were bombing Pearl Harbour, Hawaii 70 years ago.
American troops rallied to save Hawaii.
The bulk of American servicemen were white.
Oriental looking people are treated better than white people, including of Japanese appearance.
Apparently they're indifferent towards Japanese culture.
Seems pretty sick, imho.

factoring in "island culture," Cook Islands are an easy pick.

Actually anywhere with a USDA zone 9 or milder climate with an annual mean of 61 F/16+ C would be better.

And yet they're perfectly happy to take advantage of our electricity, computers, cars, etc.

If it weren't for our civilising influence they'd probably still be living in caves and eating each other.

A lot of older persons who have been to both Hawaii and the Cook Islands have said that the latter reminded them of Hawaii before it became the tourist trap it is today.

I remember when I was travelling through the rural areas of Samoa I felt as though I had travelled back into pre-colonial times. Everyone was wearing traditional dress, living in little thatch huts, roasting pigs in the ground, etc.

The occasional bus or TV antenna were the only things to break the illusion.

I was mostly thinking of avoiding "hostile natives",
but if Cook Islands are both more welcoming and traditional then I'd probably like that better.

Originally this thread was just about climate though.
There are many world climates that I find thrilling,
but few have an actual setting and atmosphere for me to envy a particular location.

B for me. I'd give it an A if it was a bit wetter, say twice the rainfall, and summer maxima were about 2 degrees cooler.

Yeah I would have to agree, but it does very quite a bit..

Honolulu Monthly Rainfall Totals 1947-2008

Some years over 1000mm some only around 200
