Went to -7.8°C last night in our rather mild spell. Feels warmish in the day with the bright sun and mid 40s in the day (47°F/8°C yesterday).
As far as I could find the last time we got that cold here was back in 1991 - as Hampstead's on a hill its coldest nights are often not as cold as other places in the London area. 15-16C diurnal ranges can happen in early summer with completely clear skies and unusually dry air but I doubt I'd find one at this time of year - the sun's not strong enough yet to feel any proper warmth in it, though the UV can get just above 1 for the first time in three months Currently -4.5C at close to 11pm.
The last day of the cold spell: -0.5C at noon, full sunshine, no wind, snow cover...I'm off outside
