But we are not debating what temperatures Owen thinks are cold or not, we are talking about the current temperatures & how much below average they are.

Using Met Office definitions for the departure from average, at the moment in the UK it is "very cold"

45 F/7 C, mostly cloudy, and breezy at 1:30PM. Second day in a row in which the sky was completely clear in the morning before clouds rolled in. Nice weather.

We actually got above freezing today. Having a hot spell.

But not time to celebrate. Although we may have a few warm hours each day between now and May. The nights will most likely be frigid enough to keep the ground cold enough that we wont see any significant snow melting for a good while.

@ 11 pm

Cloudy, misty
0.5°C/32.9°F
83%
Dew point: -2.2°C/28°F
Windchill: -2.5C/27.5F

Today's high was 6.3°C/43.3°F. We had snow at abnormally high temperatures today. Orly airport reported light snow at 5.6°C/42.1°F. Sounds good to people who want some of the white stuff without the chill that normally comes with it.
I think I've seen snow falling at 8°C/46°F in March before, but I don't remember the year so can't verify.

-7°C and clear. This would have been so nice in February which was cloudy and barely below freezing. This late in March I'd rather it were +7°C.
