Are these daily rather than monthly records? i always thought jacksonville could get a lot colder than that.

Wow, Florida's had a rough winter. The problem with cold in Florida is that you feel it so much more. I don't know if it's because of the humidity or what, but when I lived there I was not very cold tolerant at all. I can handle single digits in Texas and New Mexico!

I'm pretty sure those were daily records not monthly.
Public Information - NOAA's National Weather Service

How about 18 Degrees in Florida.

Record low temps again in Florida 2/13/12. Absolutely amazing the south is seeing daily snow and cold records broken and Northeast cant even hold onto 32.

Yes, it is amazing to see places like Oklahoma get snow when stations like Buffalo or Chicago get buy a snow flake. Lol. Ahha, the struggles of the winter fan. Just kidding.

However, to be fair to NOAA/NWS daily records – breaking a daily record is not all that uncommon at NWS stations each month…rather than monthly or all time records. Look at the records for daily snow in Iowa and MN on the map you posted - despite being one of the mildest winters in 50 years in the Midwest – parts of Iowa and MN still broke daily snowfall records yesterday: Here is one for yesterday in Waterloo, IA

RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA
856 PM CST FRI JAN 20 2012

...RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM PRECIP AND SNOWFALL SET AT WATERLOO IA...

A RECORD SNOWFALL OF 7.1 INCHES WAS SET AT WATERLOO IA TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 3.0 SET IN 1904. THE LIQUID EQUIVALENT WAS 0.65 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION...WHICH BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 0.45 SET BACK IN 1974.

As far as the cold for this weekend in Florida…I tend to doubt any records will be broken. In fact, after two cold nights, it’s back to normal or even above normal temps for most of Florida again for the rest of the week and into next week. Looks like days in most of Florida in the 70's and 80's and nights in the 60's F for the forseasble future. Also, most NWS stations I’ve seen in Florida are running above normal this winter. So it’s not just the northern tier that has had a mild or semi-mild winter from what I've seen:

I have to say that for weather in the 70's and 80's Fahrenheit with high humidity, along with nights consistently being above 60 F, sometimes even above 70 F, the word "mild" is an insufficient description. I'd say that at least qualifies as "warm"; for me it would qualify as very warm/moderately hot.

Nah, Florida barely had a winter. 15 days tops with anything that wasn't above historical averages. It's one of the warmest that I can remember.

Yep was over 80 today and humidity is back. A/C humming again trying to keep it at 74 degrees as it doesn't cool off much at night south of you.. This would be great summer weather for 3-4-5 months for me but for middle of winter it gets real old over the years.. Had maybe three weeks of cooler nights under 65 so far..
