What decaying remnants of a real summer actually existed after mid-July aren't worth prolonging anyway.

Spring and fall my favorite seasons. Love the fall colors, more comfortable weather, having windows open and the smells of fall. Spring is a rebirth of flowers, budding trees, birds singing. Do like summer but not days on end heat and humidity and running up my electricity. Winter can be beautiful especially with a new fallen snow but again running up my gas bill. Spring and fall good for low energy bills.

I fear/loathe the approach of fall because us not having one leads to huge anger and disappointment.

I love Fall. I was just talking today with a young woman at a deli and we were remarking how glad we were a short hot spell of upper 80's and 90 degrees with high humidity was over and now we are getting into Fall weather.

Also it's frustrating to see places as close as North FL and GA seeing noticeable cool downs in October while down here it's in the mid-high 80s with high humidity.

geez, this thread is 8 years old.

Anyway, I generally look forward for fall, last years' fall was a disaster though. We went straight from grey, warm and muggy to cold and damp without a proper mild /chilly period in between. No actual fall to speak of.

I want days between 10c and 20c with cool nights, some sun and clouds, a bit of rain and not too humid conditions.

Now it feels more like late spring weather, but if we keep on with the sunny days with cooler conditions (say, highs between 10 and 15c), this fall will be a winner for me.

Here in eastern North America it is the fear season. We have to keep praying and hoping that this winter won't kill all our tender plants. Every single winter has the potential. Other subtropical climates in the world don't have such fears compared to say Charleston SC.

I don't fear fall but I feel quite sad and even a little angry that summer is over and the rainy season will be upon us for another 9-10 months

Hey, it's been a nice summer, eh?

I'll miss the sun for sure though.

I used to.

Now I dread the approach of spring/summer. Our summers are just too warm and uncomfortable. I'm getting very heat-intolerant nowadays, I don't know why...

The only bad thing about winter is that you can get the flu/common cold, otherwise it's very pleasant and decent (at least Sydney's). One downside about fall is that we tend to get stubborn rainfall that goes on for days (including overcast weather). But it's transient anyway, as sunny dry weather still comes by May.
